Background:

Hillyfield Primary School is an inclusive school that welcomes children from all backgrounds and abilities. Its curriculum reflects the culturally diverse society to which its children belong, with resources that relate to the interests and experiences of boys and girls. It aims to provide a tolerant and supportive school, where everyone is valued, and where its classrooms reflect the traditions of the school community. All classrooms have two computers including the nursery. The nursery unit of the school provides a range of experiences and activities that are carefully planned to stimulate the children according to their needs. The national curriculum applies to all children of compulsory school age. It includes the study of the core subjects which include mathematics, English, science, religious education (RE) and information and communication technology (ICT) and the foundation subjects which include history, geography, art, music, physical education and design technology. Everyone at the school values and respects the differences, faiths and traditions of the school community. The school makes every effort to ensure that children learn to value and respect other cultural traditions.
