Background:
Haberdashers' Aske's Hatcham College became a single college in 1995, which were formerly two Haberdasher schools (boys and girls). The age range of the pupils is 11-18. There are regular musical and drama performances, including an annual opera. The school works with local primaries and secondaries as well as supporting charities and local initiatives. The school extended its influence to the management of another school in Lewisham in 2005. In September 2005 the college became an Academy. The Haberdashers' company remains its principal sponsor. Associated with the Academy status is a full ICT upgrade across college, refurbishment of all 13 science laboratories, three more lifts, and an extended Post-16 centre. Music became the main specialism of the academy. The school aims to promote excellence, mutual respect and responsible behaviour among the students.
