Background:

Recent building projects at Albany School have included a new sixth form block, a new dining room and new teaching areas for science, humanities and technology. Enhanced facilities for PE, including an astroturf pitch, complete the current development programme. All subjects are taught in specialist classrooms with many subject areas having their own ICT resources in addition to the five ICT rooms all with Internet access. There is a large playing field, a gymnasium, sports hall and an outdoor fitness area with a climbing wall. The technology area has fully equipped, specialist rooms for food technology, textiles, resistant materials, manufacturing, product design and graphics. It has a well-resourced library complete with computers. All pupils study the national curriculum at Key Stage 3. The school offers a wide range of GCSE and vocational courses at Key Stage 4 and in the sixth form pupils can follow A-level courses, vocational courses or a combination of these. There is a full range of school clubs and teams including football, basketball, netball, athletics, hockey, rounders, dance and skateboarding. The school also has a climbing wall and fitness trail.
