Background:
The school is a county primary school for children aged three to eleven. The school is an inclusive school and welcome any child in the area. The school was opened in January 1989 in temporary accommodation. The school moved into its new premises in November 1991. The school governors chose the name of the school. It means 'Friend of Bengal'. It is the honorary title given to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman who helped found Bangladesh in 1971. The curriculum must promote spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development and prepares pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life. Information and communication technology (ICT) skills are taught through class lessons in its computer suite. All children takes part in physical education, movement and games. Swimming is also part of the curriculum for Year 3 and Year 4in the Juniors. The school must teach religious education according to the local agreed syllabus. The school provides a safe, secure and attractive environment with well organized and resourced working areas. The school aims to develop friendship, respect and understanding. The school recognises that all children require an education that will help them to develop relationships and prepare them for a life in society. By aiming to meet the full range of needs in an ordinary setting, the can improve the learning environment for everyone ' teachers and parents as well as children. The teaching and learning and social development that is right for inclusion is right for all children.
