Background:

Christ Church Church of England Junior School is situated immediately behind the Church of Christ the Saviour. The school comprises the original buildings and a new block. The school hall is used as a gymnasium, for drama lessons, assemblies and at lunchtime for meals. There is a school library, computer suite and a music room. The school playground has been extended to include a conservation area. This provides both a useful teaching and learning resource and a quiet area for children to use at playtime. Religious education has an important place in the curriculum of the school. The content of religious education lessons is predominantly Christian, though there is some teaching about other world faiths. Music is essentially a practical subject in which children perform and compose using singing or percussion instruments. The parents and teachers association provides invaluable additional equipment and also offers parents and teachers opportunities to meet socially. The school offers many extra-curricular activities including football, netball, cricket, tennis, athletics, cross-country running, chess, art, drama, reading, choir and recorder groups. The school's philosophy is centred in the Christian faith and seeks to create an environment in which Christian values influence every activity and relationship.
