Background:
Churchfields Junior School educates children aged seven to 11 years old. It occupies a spacious site with a variety of learning environments, play and recreation areas. The classrooms are housed in a mixture of late Victorian and modern buildings. There is a music room, two computer suites (in addition to computers in classrooms), a library and information area and a developing playground area. The national curriculum covers the core subjects including English, mathematics, science, information and communication technology and religious education and foundation subjects including physical education, geography, history, art and design, music, design and technology, physical social and health education and citizenship. The school offers a variety of different clubs and activities including football, netball, short tennis, recorders and guitar groups, orchestra, and choir. The school aims to create a purposeful community where children feel secure and valued.
