Background:
Dollis Junior School was founded in 1952. The grounds are situated adjacent to green belt land and include a nature reserve. All children go on residential trips and educational visits, using the school's two minibuses. Art, drama, chess, sewing, nature, dance and various sports clubs are offered to children as after-school activities. In addition, Year 5 and 6 pupils may join the French club, run by a native speaker. The school's steel pan band, the Dollis Deeppans, played in Slovenia as part of the British Council's celebrations for the Queen's birthday in 1999. The children are proud of their fundraising for the British Heart Foundation and for winning the London Primary Schools' Football Cup in 1997. Pupils contribute to the school's weekly newsletter which involves, for Year 6, interviewing notable public figures who are invited to the school.
