Background:
Grand Avenue Primary and Nursery School is situated in a residential area of Surbiton. Built in 1935, it was extended in 1969, and now consists of two main buildings, a covered swimming pool and nursery unit. A large playing field enhances the site, along with trees, picnic benches and a conservation area. It is a county primary and nursery school catering for boys and girls between the ages of three and 11. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school. These include football, netball, art, choir, recorder, county dancing, chess, athletics, swimming and bible club. The school aims to develop the ability to succeed and to encourage each child to become a happy, fulfilled individual within a supportive school community. The school motto is 'A great place to learn'.
