Background:
The school was built in 1965 and consists of a two storey building with seven classrooms, an annexe, a demountable classroom housing a DT room and a designated ICT suite. The 'extrememly pleasant' site comprises of two playgrounds, a playing field and a pond and environmental area. The school has won both 'Enfield in Bloom' and the 'Enfield Environmental Garden of London in Bloom'. The curriculum includes the teaching of French to pupils in Year 4/5 and 6, and the school has specialist music provision. Drama is encouraged with links to the Chickenshed Theatre Group and the Globe Theatre in London. The school also has links to the local community, encouraging contact with the local hotel and homes for the elderly. It encourages fund-raising for established charities and disaster funds. A wide range of sporting opportunities include teams for rugby, football, cricket, athletics, cross-country and swimming. The school is heavily over-subscribed with an average of 80 applications for every 30 places, although this has been extended to 35 places for very local children.
