Background:
Opened in 1974 the school building has recently been extended to provide an activity room for reception children as well as a new art and music studio in 2003 to promote creative and arts curriculum. The school has large grounds, including playing fields and a wildlife shelter belt. The school is committed to integration of information technology into curriculum, with networked computer bays being established in every classroom. Parents regularly help staff with information technology lessons. The school has achieved success in local mathematics, science and technology competitions. Classes are mixed-ability, but normally organised into working groups of children with similar abilities. Extra-curricular activities include country dancing, textiles, badminton, cycling proficiency, football, netball, rounders, French, juggling and music ensemble. Children in years 4, 5 and 6 receive swimming lessons.
