Background:
St Mary's CofE Primary School is situated in the village of East Barnet overlooking Oak Hill Park, which it uses for a variety of school activities. The school was founded in the 17th century and moved to its present site on Church Hill Road in 1869. As the area developed, new classrooms were added in the 1920s and the 1960s. A new junior block in 1974 and a new resource room and changing rooms were added in 1995. More recently the school has refurbished classrooms, offices and the library, built an ICT suite, and altered changing rooms and toilets to provide a further teaching room. The school aims to provide a positive learning atmosphere in which pupil achievement is maximised.
