Background:
The school is situated on Highbury Corner in a three storey Victorian building. The infant and junior schools were separate until 1998, when they amalgamated. Canonbury primary puts 'great emphasis' on academic achievement, but also 'enriches and balances' the curriculum with music and the arts. Orchestra, choir, strings club, sports, arts, crafts and computer can all be enjoyed as extra-curricular activities. The school regards itself as 'technically advanced' with its own information and communications technology (ICT) suite networked to each classroom and a full-time ICT teacher. The school's aim is 'to develop children who are confident, caring, effective and kind, prepared for education and life beyond Canonbury'.
