Background:

Green Wrythe Primary School is a co-educational day school for pupils aged from three to 11. Sutton Borough Council maintains it. The school is located on the St Helier estate in the north of the London Borough of Sutton. The school was built in the 1930s. It consists of one large building, which contains 14 class bases, two halls, the offices, a library, and an ICT suite. There are also some smaller rooms where groups of children can go and work with an adult. The school also has an appointed nursery. The school is currently undergoing a substantial refurbishment. This involves all the downstairs classrooms, the school offices and the downstairs corridor. The staff room and the library have been refurbished. Plans are underway to build a junior sports hall and to convert its current upper hall into two larger classrooms for Year 6 children. The school will also refurbish the upstairs classrooms and the corridor and stairs and create a specialist room for art and design technology. The curriculum of Green Wrythe Primary is designed to meet the vision, aims and values of the school and the requirements of the national curriculum. The school has an ICT suite with 16 computers. Each classroom also has a computer so there are further opportunities for them to use their knowledge and skills on computers to help them learn. Recently the school has run the clubs and activities which include: football, rugby, recorder, choir, basketball, ICT, judo, tennis, drama, dance, games club, cross-country, art and mathematics. The school's vision is to challenge the children to be the best that they can be.
