Background:
Harlesden is a primary school for girls and boys from the age of three to 11 years. The nursery and reception classes offer an integrated day, which includes a planned programme of outdoor play and a rich experience of practical learning activities. The school's teaching methods vary depending on what it is trying to teach, but is always planned to promote children's autonomous use of tools and resources and a sense of personal achievement and ownership of the learning. The school uses a range of resources, equipment and apparatus to support classroom work. The computers are used as a learning tool. There are opportunities for children to practise and share their instrumental music skills by playing for assemblies and other school occasions. All classes have physical education lessons at least once every week. These include gymnastics, dance, swimming and games. The school aims to provide a friendly, supportive and purposeful school community, which values and looks after its members.
