Background:

Rokesly Junior School was opened in 1953. It is a spacious two-storey building with 14 classrooms and two halls. It is surrounded by hard-surfaced and grassed playing areas. It caters for children between the ages of seven to 11 years. The school aims to offer a broad and balanced curriculum and to encourage the children to be self-confident and positive about their learning. Different activities are offered to different year groups. These include choir, cricket, drama, football, ICT, orchestra, tag rugby and wildlife. In art, design and technology the children are taught to represent their ideas using a variety of different media, tools and equipment. This is an increasingly important part of the curriculum and it is very important that the children become confident users of this technology. The school has a parent staff association (PSA), which meets approximately twice a term. Outings and special activities are often arranged to supplement studies at school. The school aims to provide a safe, stimulating and harmonious environment for its children that will encourage purposeful learning and a pride in achievement.
