Background:

Ryefield Primary School is a local education county school in the London Borough of Hillingdon. The school is co-educational and has nursery, infant and junior sections. The school opened in 1960 with purpose-built classroom blocks, three playgrounds and is surrounded by 13 acres of grounds belonging to the school. The school has recently developed many aspects of its premises ' having a new nursery conservatory and reception outdoor play area built, new radiators in the infant school and nursery, a new roof in Key Stage 2 and a new school boiler. The school has its own ICT suite, which has recently been upgraded and networked, and the school has recently invested money computerising the library and on updating books. In outdoor athletics Ryefield were overall winners and won the Uxbridge and District competition. The children also reached the final of the indoor athletics competitions in 2003. It often hosts sporting events for the LEA and borough's cross-country event and the rounder competitions. The school offers a range of activities for different year-groups over the year which include: athletics (indoor and outdoor), cello, choir, cross-country, football, French, gardening club, guitar, keyboards, netball, rounders, short tennis, violin and viola. The school aims to provide a challenging, stimulating, caring environment where children are encouraged to develop to their full potential.
