Background:

Originally built in 1953, facing Southgate Green, part of which is a conservation area; has since expanded to two-form entry, with 14 classes; over-subscribed, with more than three applications per place; pupils come from wide range of cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Grounds include 'Wild Area', added in 1997. Curriculum balanced with more than 16 clubs, including karate, chess, and orchestra. To give pupils feeling for world around them, school has close links with local home for the elderly. The school's chosen charity is 'Little John's House', a Romanian orphanage. Children involved in various activities to raise money for the cause; also raise money for NSPCC and other local groups. School proud to be regarded as 'happy and harmonious'. Friends of Walker Association raise more than £20,000 a year. After-school care until 6pm. Training partner with Middlesex University. Winners of Enfield in Bloom award (2006).
