Background:

Whiteheath Junior was founded in 1938 and moved to its present site in Ruislip in 1947. The local area is a mixture of council and owner-occupied flats, small terraced and larger detached houses, situated on the edge of the green belt. The school is set in 'beautiful, extensive grounds' and offers a playing field, adventure playground, Saxon Hut, two playgrounds and a pond. In the 1970s the school was completely rebuilt, facilities now include a double and single mobile unit, a hall, ICT room, fiction and reference libraries and a music room. The school offers an 'extensive' programme of extra-curricular activities covering music, drama, football, netball, hockey, tennis, gymnastics and dance. It became a Beacon school in 1999, received the Basic Skills Quality Mark in 2000, 2003, 2006 and was awarded Education Extra Certificates of Distinction for after-school activities in 1999 and 2001, and Investors in People Status in 2003. The school is committed to the development of the 'all round' children and believes that a child should 'attend with pleasure, satisfaction and profit', leave with regret and remembered with pride.
