Background:

Wilbury Primary School is a four-form of entry community co-educational primary school with its own purpose-built nursery, in the London Borough of Enfield. The school is situated in the southeast of Enfield, near to the Great Cambridge Road, North Circular Road (Sterling Way) and North Middlesex Hospital. The original Wilbury Junior and Infant Schools was opened in 1953, and officially amalgamated in 1986 to become Wilbury Primary School. The main building dates from 1953, and is well equipped, light and airy, with its own extensive playing field and habitat area. An extension was built onto the main building, which added five extra classrooms to cope with an increasing roll, and 10 mobile classrooms have been erected due to the further expansion of the school. Another two-roomed extension was added in 1997. A new administration block containing a new school entrance, offices, meeting rooms, a staffroom and resource area was completed in November 1999. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school. These activities include netball, football, cricket, rounders, dance, choir, African drumming and dancing and a drop-in-reading club for younger children. The school aims to creating a learning environment that is safe, structured and supportive, and which celebrates achievement, so that children become eager learners.
