Background:

Friars Primary School was built in 1963, it is a one-storey building situated on an 'attractive site', with front and rear garden and a 'large' playground. Facilities include seven classrooms, hall, medical room, kitchen, storage areas and a 'newly extended' library. As part of their work, children go on trips to places of interest, exhibitions or museums and in Years 4,5 and 6 go for a three-night residential holiday adventure during June. Extra-curricular activities include choir, football, aerobics, homework club, computer club, fashion shows, plays and dances. The school is linked with the community and is a member of North Southwark Education Action Zone. Friars also participates in the Barnados annual fund raising event. The school aims to 'enable children to develop and to achieve their full potential through programmes of work that are appropriate to their individual needs and to allow for their personal progression'.
