Background:

Formed in 1984 as result of merger of Orange Hill Junior and Senior High Schools and Moat Mount School; became self-governing in 1993. School spans 21 acres, with extensive playing fields on edge of green belt. Main building opened in 1957; recent additions include four science laboratories, media centre, art suite and ICT centre; also new building housing music classrooms, dance studio, rehearsal hall, library/resources centre and five additional English classrooms. Specialist technology college status from 1994. Before-school care, from 8am; after-school care, until 4.20pm. Over-subscribed, with seven applications per place. Charter mark (2001, 2004); Schools Curriculum Award (2000); Investor in People status (2002, 2005); DfES achievement award (2001, 2002).
