Background:

Ravens Wood School is an over-subscribed 11 to 19 boys school with a mixed sixth form. The school has been recently recognised as a Leading Edge school by the Department for Education and Skills. It has a clear focus on the academic achievement the school wants for its students. Student performance has been exceptional over a number of years and this is reflected in excellent examination results. As a Technology College it is also continually seeking to pioneer information technology as a teaching and learning strategy with the aim of raising the performance of its students and equipping them with the skills they will require to embrace the 21st century. The school not only prides itself on its academic achievement but it places emphasis on providing extra-curricular opportunities. Approximately 70 per cent of students are currently learning to play musical instrument. The school aims to be an internationally renowned community that provides an outstanding education for its students so that they can make a valued contribution as citizens of the world.
