Background:

The school has three forms of entry for children between the ages of seven and 11. The presentation of the Natioal Curriculum will be broad, balanced and relevant, providing for individual needs while promoting both independent and co-operative learning. Computers are used extensively throughout the school. Programs are challenging and motivating and provide children with the opportunity to store, retrieve and edit data, develop keyboard and word processing skills, graphic art and design. The teaching of art aims to provide pupils with a variety and progression of experiences where both imagination and technical ability can be developed. Design technology is the creative application of skills and knowledge to design and make good quality products. It is important that children learn to view the world critically and discuss the ways to improve the quality of everyday objects, materials and environments. The school provides excellent opportunities for meaningful and pleasurable musical experience. Physical Education aims to develop agility and physical co-ordination, competency in, and through, physical ability and the ability to express feelings through movement. The school aim is to establish a well organised and stimulating environment within the school; to implement the appropriate resources necessary to independent learning; encourage pupils to set up and share displays own work which reflect the value given to the work ' its quality and sensitivity, stimulus and originality; create challenges and experiences relevant to its pupils individuals needs; establish consistency and progression in structured approaches to teaching and learning throughout the four year groups in Key Stage 2 (7-11); encourage pupils to examine, question and discuss with confidence, any concerns with their teachers and establish activity based learning and first hand experience both within and outside the framework of the National Curriculum and with the support of pupils and parents ' establish clearly defined codes of behaviour.
