Background:
Ashburton Junior School's building was constructed in 1928 and was built around a quadrangle garden which still exists today. The site is shared with Ashburton Infant School, each school occupying two sides of the quadrangle, as well as having two temporary classrooms in the school grounds. The school is a three-form entry community junior school catering for boys and girls between the ages of seven and 11. A variety of clubs are arranged for children to attend at lunchtimes and after-school. These can include netball, football, basketball, cricket, athletics, chess, computer, playground games, dance and Latin. The school aims to create an environment which is stimulating, welcoming and inviting, in which the above aims can be realised.
