Background:
Benhurst Primary School was built in 1936. The school's name originated from 'Ben' ' a room of a cottage, and 'Hurst' ' a wooded hillside or glade. It is set in grounds with separate infant and junior playgrounds and a large field. Religious education is taught by the school in accordance with the agreed syllabus adopted by the London borough of Havering. Benhurst School is proud of its sporting provision and the school was awarded Active Mark Status in 2004. The school enjoys a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including football teams, choir and environmental science clubs. The ethos of the school is built on an understanding that all can and will achieve. The school motto is ' Only my best is good enough for me'.
