Background:
Originating from the old St James's Schools, the new Hampton Hill Council School was recognised as a public elementary school in 1928 and is now known as Hampton Hill Junior School. Recent developments have created a music and television room, a library, support rooms, a children's kitchen for food technology, and a nine-terminal information technology room. There is a large playground, and a quiet area with benches, tables, trees and a giant chess board. An environmental study area also serves as the local recycling centre. Parents are encouraged to help in school. Links with local businesses, theatre, library, and sports clubs help to broaden learning opportunities, while pupils are offered a choice of clubs catering for a variety of interests ranging from music and art to sport and technology. Funds are raised for charity through sponsored events and singing.
