Background:

John Ball is a primary school in the London borough of Lewisham. John Ball is a large primary school, situated just behind Blackheath Village, educating the children from its local community. The main building was opened in 1953, but in early 2001 the purpose built 'Early Years Unit' was added. This school provides a secure environment, with safe, attractive surroundings and a well-structured routine. The school curriculum consists of all the subjects, which are taught throughout the school, plus many other aspects. These includes the teaching methods used in the school, the development of social skills in the children, the development of the positive attitudes within the children to themselves, each other and the world around them. At John Ball it considers assemblies to be a valuable and integral part of school life and encourages all pupils to participate. Computer club takes place in its ICT suite and is open to all Year five pupils. Its aim to build up enthusiasm, confidence and knowledge of ICT in a fun and friendly environment. Various sporting extra- curriculum activities are offered to the older children in key stage 2.
