Background:
St Mary's RC Junior School is located in what used to be St Philomena's Prep School. The school was originally founded in 1890 and, since 1966, has been separate from the infant's school. It serves four parishes and has good links with the community. It has a wide variety of extra-curricular activities including netball, football, cross-country, athletics and choir. Recent achievements including the girls' football team winning the Borough eight-a-side trophy. School visits are undertaken throughout the year with the highlight being the Year 6 visit to the Isle of Wight. The school also undertake regular charitable activities. The school aims to develop the whole child spiritually, morally, emotionally, physically and socially to its full potential.
