St Matthew's CE Primary School was originally affiliated to the national society in 1838 with room for 190 children. Over the last 150 years it has been modernised and new buildings added. The school aims to provide a broad and balanced curriculum for all its children including the most able and those with special educational needs. The curriculum is based on the national curriculum and covers the following subjects: history, geography, music, physical education, religious education, physical health and social education/citizenship, English, mathematics, science, design and technology, information and communication technology, art. The school aims to provide an environment which is stimulating, well resourced and which provides appropriate opportunities for all.
