Background:

The Albany School was established in 1982 as a mixed comprehensive school. The school is surrounded by playing fields and adjacent to Harrow Lodge public park and sports centre. The accommodation includes a theatre, a sports hall, a health and fitness suite, a gymnasium, eight science laboratories, an open plan art and craft area, a design technology block including two food studies and textiles rooms, a library and resources area, three computer rooms, a specialist careers suite, a drama studio, and a special needs resources centre. The school offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities to all pupils. More than 20 sporting clubs and activities exist together with a variety of others such as music, art and drama clubs, conservation club, IT club, and chess clubs. The school aims: to provide an environment in which each individual can flourish, to develop existing talents and interests, to lead each pupil from dependence to independence, and to equip him or her to deal successfully with life beyond school.
