Background:

Built on the site of an old gravel quarry, All Saints' Church of England Primary's origins date back to 1825. The premises now consist of a Victorian hall and houses with additional classrooms built in 1939 and 1994. Facilties include a computer suite developed in 1999. The school has 'strong links' with All Saints' church where it holds 'regular' family services. Children make 'numerous' visits into the wider communty and a local volunteer team 'regularly' listens to children read. Parental involvement is 'welcomed' and parents play an 'active' part in the daily life of the school by running extra-curricular activities, such as football, cricket and dance, running a library service and contributing to playground activities. The 'Friends' organise an annual day trip and theatre visits. The parents raise money every year for the school and donate five per cent of the funds to local charities for young people. The pupils themselves take part in seven charity fundraising events a year and are proud of their recent donations to the Blue Peter appeal and Jeans for Genes among others. The school is very oversubscribed with three applicants for each place.
