Bishop Challoner is a catholic aided educational school. The Sisters of Mercy founded the school in 1933. It moved to Christian Street in 1956. It became a comprehensive school in 1972. The school is involved in visionary, cutting edge development programme. Opportunities for enrichment are good with a varied and interesting programme of experiences for all students. Frequent trips are organised out of school, including several visits to higher education institutions. The school has a very strong links with the wider community. Governors and staff at Bishop Challoner School agree that placing students into teaching sets is advantageous to the learning process.
