Background:
Christ Church Streatham School was founded in 1844 and is one of the oldest primary schools in the district. Christ Church primary school serves an inner city community in Streatham. It is a church school where pupils reflect the ethnic diversity of the community. Religious education is given in the day-to-day running of the school and in the attitude of the teachers and children to each other rather than in set lessons only. A range of extra-curricular activities is run after school, usually in short courses of six weeks. These are normally offered to one or two classes at a time and have included street dance, soccer, drama, science and gardening. The school aims to serve the community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice.
