Founded in 1923; housed in Victorian building, with new wing added in 1997. Prides itself on caring family atmosphere. Over-subscribed. After-school care offered at neighbouring school; member of staff designated to escort children there each day. Music is 'particular strength'; French taught as part of the curriculum to all age-groups. Limited on-site sporting facilities; children taken to local swimming pool once a week; pupils in junior school travel by coach to a nearby playing field for physical education sessions. Over-subscribed, with three applications per place. Beacon status; Artsmark (2005); Basic Skills Quality Mark (2005). Ethos: 'Caring and supportive.
