Background:

Founded in 1967, three further classrooms have since been built to provide extra accommodation for the growing school. A nursery block is the latest addition, and this received its first intake in 1999. St Bedes supplements the core curriculum with health education and multi-cultural education. Children with special needs follow a five staged programme. Children with disabilities have equal access to the curriculum as far as possible, and ramps and disabled toilets have been added to the school. The school'supplements pupils' education with up to three educational visits per school year to 'enhance the study unit they are exploring'. St Bedes values the links between home and school as 'very important' and parents are invited to celebrate at class Masses prepared by pupils and teachers. Parental involvement extends to extra-curricular activities and the school football team is coached by ex-parents. The parent-teacher's association is 'very active' in encouraging and organising events outside school time. Additional clubs include football, netball, drama, bible, athletics, choir and orchestra, and pupils compete successfully in league matches.
