Background:

St Dunstan's is a voluntary aided Church of England school managed by a governing body. The school is housed in an attractive, single storey building that combines modern facilities within a traditional design. The school has been built with a nursery, six infant and eight junior classes. Although the two classes in each year have separate rooms they can be linked and the children share an outside covered work area. The foundation and Key Stage 1 classes open into a large and attractive shared resource area. The Key Stage 2 classes open into a shared activity area with a splendid ICT suite which is utilised by children throughout the age range of the school. The grounds have been attractively landscaped and planted with shrubs and many trees. A fenced conservation area and pond have been provided for nature and environmental studies together with school allotment. The school is fortunate to have a dedicated computer suite with a wired network of multi-media computers, a portable wireless computer network, an interactive whiteboard and an additional networked computer in each class, as well as other IT equipment such as digital cameras, scanners, video cameras and data logging sensors. Various activities are provided for the children over and above the normal lessons. These may include athletics, board games, cricket, drama, dancing, environmental studies/science, football, gymnastics, netball, and music, Eg choir, recorder group, percussion groups and the school orchestra. The school aims to foster a Christian ethos providing a high quality of care for every member of the school community.
