Background:

The Academy was established in 2002 and is going from strength to strength, with steady improvement of academic results each year. It has been assessed as one of the top ten most improved schools in the country since 2006. In March 2009, Ofsted rated the school as 'good with outstanding features in the sixth form. Students benefit from exceptionally well-resourced classrooms, library and study areas as well as specialist facilities such as a studio theatre, and recently refurbished Design and Technology workshops. The sixth form is a thriving community whose students support younger pupils extremely well in after-school clubs, charity work and as reading mentors.The school is continuing to develop ever stronger links with local primary schools and the wider community through a range of after-school activities for GCA and primary school children, summer schools, sports, arts and adult education. Its outdoor education programme is extensive with over 75% of students taking part in residential trips each year. Greig City academy is committed to creating an environment which is safe and nurturing so that student and staff can strive to fulfil their potential. The academy works closely with parents and guardians in a range of ways and open communication between parents and the academy is encouraged.
