Background:

Dulwich Hamlet Junior School was founded in 1884. Over the years there have been many changes and the site now consists of five buildings situated in the centre of Dulwich Village including one new building and music rooms. The school has a strong musical reputation and offers brass, string and woodwind instrumental tuition. Music exam results are excellent. Pupils take part in many music festivals, debating competitions and theatrical productions. There are various visits to museums, galleries and parks as well as language and environmental excursions. The parent-teacher association (PTA) is both active and profitable running fun events and fund-raising ventures. Pupils take part in many sporting activities, matches and events. The school has won Cross-country, swimming and gymnastics trophies this year. The school's ethos is to welcome, value and respect each individual, seek to create a caring community, provide a well resourced, secure and stimulating environment, encourage everyone to take responsibility, to become confident learners, and to achieve their potential.
