Background:
Archbishop Tenison's CofE High School founded in 1714 and moved to its current site in 1958. Within the last 15 years the school has opened an art centre, a new design and technology block and more recently, new science, music and technology facilities, a new two-floor library, resource centre and dining hall. The tennis and netball courts were also recently resurfaced. In addition to national curriculum subjects, drama, business studies and religious studies are offered at GCSE. Major sports are netball, tennis, football and cricket. Pupils regularly raise significant funds for charity. The curriculum in the first three years is designed to give a broad and balanced education to all pupils. On the games field, the school successfully competes with other schools in cricket, football, netball, tennis and rounders and participates in the Croydon swimming galas and athletics meetings. This is a school with high expectations of its pupils and students, with a commitment to academic excellence within a Christian Community. The school has high standards of pastoral care and a developing Christian educational vision.
