Background:
The school was established in 1959 as a private Jewish school, achieving grant maintained status in 1998 and becoming voluntary aided in 1999. The school accepts Jewish children, and 20 percent of the timetable is devoted to Jewish studies and modern Hebrew. Parents are considered 'partners in their childrens educational journey', and their views and opinions are valued. Children's emotional and social needs are seen as paramount and much work is undertaken to develop pupils' self-esteem, confidence and social skills. 'Excellent' SATs results are seen as the result of 'focused teaching combined with a strong philosohpy and ethos'. After school clubs are offered. There is a part-time special educational needs co-ordinator and parents 'recognise the school as a caring supportive environment. The school has Investor in People Award, Quality Mark and Artsmark Gold Award.
