Background:
Oliver Goldsmith School was built in 1899. There are three buildings within the school grounds. There is the main building built on four floors, which houses the majority of classes, three halls and the offices and also a subsidiary building situated on Peckham Road, which contains the nursery, library, computer room, staffrooms, purpose-built reception classrooms and the Springboard Literacy Unit. The curriculum is designed in accordance with statutory requirements ensuring that all students are taught national curriculum subjects. The Ethnic Minorities Achivement Grant (EMAG) is extra funding to assist the school in maximising the levels of achivement for ethnic minority pupils, some having English as an additional language. The school provides a secure, caring and stimulating environment in which all children are valued and respected. It works to create an atmosphere where curiosity together with the quest for knowledge and understanding are satisfied so that children are led to take full advantage of the educational opportunities that are offered to them.
