Background:
St Aidan's is a Catholic voluntary aided primary school which caters for pupils who are baptised Roman Catholics whose parents live in the parishes of St Cedd (Goodmayes), St Teresa (Newbury Park) and that part of SS Peter and Paul's which lies north of the High Road. The main building was opened as a primary school in September 1965 and since that date additional classrooms have been built so that today there are 14 classrooms. Three of the classrooms are mobile units. A self-contained nursery has been built on the site. During 2003-2005 a large building project will be taking place, incorporating a new hall, three new classrooms, a library, changing rooms and a prayer/reflection room. The building is due to be completed in February 2005. At St Aidan's School, it aims to create and sustain a stimulating environment where everybody involved, children, staff and pupils, may grow in faith and in their love of God, developing respect for themselves and an awareness of the needs and gifts of others. It also aims to create an environment where children will be happy, independent and will be able to achieve their full potential, spiritually, academically, morally, emotionally, socially and physically.
