Background:
St Bonaventure's provides comprehensive education for boys aged 11 to 18. It was originally a grammar school founded by the Franciscans, it was the first voluntary aided comprehensive school to be awarded technology college status in East London. The school has benefited enormously over the last ten years from major refurbishment and modernisation. It has gained a number of new buildings and facilities and in September 2003, opened a superb new Science block. It provides a wide range of extra-curricular activities including: netball, football, rugby, choir and basketball, swimming, sailing and canoeing. There have been a number of outstanding performances from pupils achieving national status in football, basketball and athletics. The school aims to reflect the principles of equal opportunity for all in its structures, curriculum, values and policies.
