The school opened in 1893 and moved to the present site in 1976. The school moved into a new building in September 2003; it is a three-form-entry school; over-subscribed, with 1.6 applications per place. Extra-curricular activities include choir, string group, orchestra, recorder and guitar, as well as football, tennis, netball, softball and chess. There are trips to theatres, museums and places of interest. Pupils in Years 5 and 6 are offered residential trips. 'The relationship between the parents, parish and school is strong and highly valued.' Healthy Schools Mark. Beacon status (2002); Basic Skills Quality Mark; DfES achievement award (2002). Ethos: 'The school has a strong Catholic ethos and is supported by the parishes that it serves. Children are encouraged to help and care for each other'.
