Background:

St Joachims School is situated in the East End of London, close to the Royal Docks and the excel exhibition centre. The ground floor of the school building is accessible for pupils with disabilities. All children cover a programme that includes games, gymnastics and dance and have two physical education lessons a week, one inside and one outside. Children in Key Stage 2 have the opportunity to go swimming and in year 6 parts of the curriculum are covered through a residential visit at which the children do a variety of outdoor activities such as sailing, rock climbing, canoeing and orienteering. Team building is a key aspect of this visit. All classes at St Joachim's have their own computer and timetabled weekly access to computer suite. During ICT lessons the children learn how to use Information and Communication Technology tools to effectively communicate, present and transmit information in the form of words, numbers, graphs, charts, pictures and sounds. They also learn to find, select, save and analyse information. Information and Communication Technology is used in all subjects to support learning.
