Background:
St Mary's was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1928. In 1984 it moved from the original Victorian building to its current home, a converted country house. The school is part of a 'close knit' community, based loosely on the parish of Christchurch, and many of the parents are former pupils of the school. The school enjoys 'particular success' in football and swimming and has won local leagues and cups in addition to representing the borough of Greenwich at the London Youth Games. The school is oversubscribed.
