Background:
The John Fisher School is in West Purley in grounds, which occupy a fine position along with some gently wooded areas. The facilities of the school include seven recently upgraded laboratories, three computer networks, a design and technology complex, art and design block, a gymnasium and weight training room. In 1998 various projects were completed including the construction of 12 new classrooms, a new sixth form centre and a library development project. The school is proud of its sporting achievements and the new fields, a superb 22-acre sports field. Extra-curricular activities of the school include: rugby, football, netball, athletics and cross-country. There are various opportunities available in the school at lunchtime and after-school to enhance the learning of pupils. A sports hall was opened in November 2004. The school aims to develop the individual's self-esteem through participation in sport and exercise.
