Background:
The Wimbledon County School for Girls was opened in 1924, where it continued until 1969 when Merton first reorganised its education into a three-tier system of first, middle and high schools. The attractive neo-georgian building that the middle school inherited is set in its own beautiful grounds. It has excellent facilities with extensive playing fields and hard court areas. Internally it has two halls, a gymnasium, specialist music and cooking areas, a library and a networked computer suite with a satellite weather station. Every class has access to a computer with CD capability and a link via broadband to the internet. The school offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities including: netball, computer club, football, rugby, cricket, chess club, art club, basketball, athletics, choir, aerobics and orchestra. The school believes that everyone has the right to be happy, safe and respected in a friendly, stimulating environment.
