Background:
Aveling Park School is a small, friendly, and purposeful comprehensive school for girls and boys aged between eleven and 16. The school ethos is founded on respect for all members of our community and this promotes high standards of work, behaviour and attendance. Within a safe and secure learning environment our teams of well-qualified, experienced and dedicated teachers provide the equal opportunity for every student to succeed and excel. Aveling Park School prides itself on its pastoral care programme and, through shared endeavour with our parents we really do make a difference. A home school contract and agreement clearly outlines our expectations with regard to standards and behaviour. The school has an excellent system of home school communication and we always contact parents to keep them up-to-date with the overall and detailed progress of their child. The Headteacher holds a regular 'surgery' at which parents can call in to discuss any areas related to their child's welfare. The students at Aveling Park School benefit from a wide-ranging and challenging curriculum, which meets the needs of the National Curriculum.Exciting new developments are in place to ensure that all students are encouraged to acquire confidence, develop initiative and take responsibility for their own learning. Students are encouraged to gain the most from every lesson and are taught study skills by a Learning Mentor.
