Background:

Built in 1969, the current building is situated near the centre of Sipson village, close to Heathrow airport. It has its own playing field, and the building has recently been extended under the 'New Deal for Schools' initiative. The school is proud of its 'traditional values and community spirit', and seeks to create 'a warm and caring environment in which all pupils are able to realise their full potential'. Children work in ability groups, where appropriate, and a mixture of class, group, and individual teaching is used to deliver the curriculum, which is also complimented by various school outings. On offer are several extra curricular activities, such as choir, orchestra and clubs ranging from maths to chess. The school recently won the district rounders tournament, district sports, and netball league and also competes in the football league and swimming gala. Close connections with the local communtiy are maintained with links to two local churches, and visits to a local hospice. The school has also raised money for several charities. 'We are proud of our academic success. Given that we are situated in an area of significant disadvantage compared to much of the LEA, we are regarded as a high achieving school'.
